Remote Switch Set 3-Pack 1 5 2 2
Remote pack switch I bought one of these packs yesterday and have just tried to get them working. I tried each of the three receivers and did they work in one word NO. They are going back on Monday 21 July 2012
Poor design and quality control. Look elsewhere. Most disappointed with these. The handset/transmitter is cheap and nasty. It's easy to press both On and Off buttons at the same time as I found I was doing when programming the receivers. The battery is the tiny 12V 23A type as used in wireless doorbells, which I wasn't expecting. The transmitter also behaves like a doorbell one, transmitting for a second or so after a button is released which means you have to wait for the LED to go out before pressing another button. In most situations this probably won't matter, but could be annoying if you want to switch one device/light on and another off at the same time. As for the receivers, in an environment where other 433MHz devices work fine one receiver had a less than 1m range and another around 3m - which is useless and nowhere near the 70m maximum claimed. The third worked OK at 10m. They also interfere with each other (sure sign of a simple super-regen receiver) meaning you can't use them close to each other. While they seem to remember their programming OK with the power removed, they also remember their on/off state which could be a problem after a power cut. And finally there is no way of changing the codes to deal with any interference from other similar devices. So you have to hope that the transmitter codes are nicely random. On the basis of the very poor range of the two receivers alone I cannot recommend them. This set is going back. 14 July 2012
