The importance of bathroom lighting might not be the first thing you think about. We often spend a great deal of time in the bathroom however, so it is not so strange that many people enjoy the indulgence of being able to choose between different types of lighting. It might be relaxing to take a bath in soft lighting while also being able to increase the light level to brighter light for personal grooming or putting make-up on. Bathroom lights come in all shapes and sizes and can be recessed downlights, spotlights, wall lights, flush ceiling lights and even cabinet lights. Some bathroom lights have no permanently-installed light source and give you the option of choosing your own type of light bulbs. You could fit a smart bulb, speaker bulb or coloured light bulb into the light fitting and create your own special bathroom environment and bath or shower with music, red light, blue light – the choice is yours! When buying a light for your bathroom, the most important thing to check is that the IP-rating of the light fitting is suitable for the location where the light is to be installed. A bathroom has several safety zones for electrical equipment with different IP ratings. Consult an electrician or check the Requirements for Electrical Installations section of building regulations for the country where you live to make sure you choose the right kind of light.
